Pensioner robbed by bogus caller
An 80-year-old woman has been robbed by a bogus caller in Kidderminster.

West Mercia Police say a man called at her home and told her he was from British Telecom.

She let him in and after examining her phone he walked around all the rooms in the house and told her he would have to come back later.

When he did not return the pensioner realised he had stolen cash from her - police say she has been extremely shaken by the incident.

The robber is described as a white man, about 40 years old and of average height and was wearing a green top with dark-coloured trousers.

The incident has prompted the police to warn people, particularly the elderly, to be more careful about who they let into their homes.

They advise fitting door-viewers and chains and urge people to always ask callers for proof of identity.
