Murder victim is named by police
Ray Mo
Police say people in the restaurant on Saturday have come forward
Police have named a man who was found dead behind a Chinese restaurant in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.

Ray Mo was discovered by his wife and 16-year-old nephew near the Arch Restaurant, which he owned, in Brunswick Street, shortly after 0300 BST on Sunday.

Staffordshire Police said he had been stabbed several times.

On Tuesday a forensic examination was carried out on his silver Mercedes which was parked near to the scene.

They said investigations inside the restaurant showed no evidence of a break-in or a disturbance.

DNA samples taken

It is believed Mr Mo was attacked outside the premises after he had locked up to leave.

His wife and nephew returned to the restaurant after becoming concerned when he failed to come home.

The restaurant and nearby Hanover Street were cordoned off on Monday morning and officers visited neighbouring homes and businesses.

Police said they have received a number of calls from the public about who was in the restaurant and surrounding area between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

DNA samples have been taken from staff and customers to eliminate them from the investigation.

Details of Mr Mo's friends, his business life and his movements before arriving at the restaurant at 1700 GMT on Saturday are also being gathered.

An incident room has been set up at Newcastle police station.

Mr Mo moved to Newcastle in 1985 with his wife Mai, 55, and their three daughters, Judith, 34, Monica, 32 and Anita 30.
