Lightning strike man 'critical'
A man is in a critical condition after he was struck by lightning while on a day trip to Cumbria with his family.

The 32-year-old man from Maidstone, Kent, was visiting a stone circle at Castlerigg, near Keswick, when he was struck on Wednesday afternoon.

Members of the public gave him first aid until paramedics arrived and the man was taken by air ambulance to Cumberland Infirmary.

He is currently in the intensive care unit suffering from burns.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said the man was with three members of his family, thought to be brothers and a sister, when he was struck.
