A 31-year-old woman was punched and tied up by two raiders who broke into her home in Manchester.
But her 22-year-old sister who was upstairs in the house at Dickenson Road, Rusholme, was able to call the police on her mobile phone.
The raiders stole computer equipment, a mobile phone, jewellery and a car. The items were recovered when the robbers crashed in a chase.
The raid occurred on 12 July, but details have just been released.
Tied up
The men broke into the house at about 1315 BST.
They threatened and punched the woman, before putting a blanket over her head and tying her up with an electrical cord.
Her sister, who was in bed at the time, was woken by the commotion and called the police.
The two men were joined by a third as they fled with their haul.
Two escaped in the victim's red Ford Mondeo, but were chased by the police.
Chase crash
During the chase they crashed the car into a lamp post on Conygham Road and ran away.
On Thursday, police released an e-fit of one of the attackers. He is white, 5ft 7ins with slim legs and a large upper body.
He is said to be aged 35 to 40 and walked with a slight hunch.
Det Con Pat Ainsley, from Greater Manchester Police, said: "I am hoping that someone out there will recognize this man and be able to tell us who he is."
He appealed for anyone with information to get in touch with police, or call Crimestoppers in confidence.
