Man fights for life after crash

A man is fighting for his life after suffering serious chest injuries when the car he was travelling in crashed into a lamp-post.

The 23-year-old driver remains in St Mary's Hospital, following the accident on the A3020 on Medina Way, Shanklin, Isle of Wight, on Saturday.

He was travelling towards Cowes in a dark blue Subaru Impreza when it left the dual carriageway at about 1126 GMT.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

They are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a four-by-four-style silver Honda, which was travelling ahead of the Subaru at the time of the accident.
