Man held over police chase crash
An 18-year-old man has been arrested after a girl was critically injured in a car crash during a police chase.

The 16-year-old girl was the front seat passenger in the stolen car which crashed at 0500 BST in Speke as it was being pursued by police.

She suffered serious head injuries and is undergoing treatment at Whiston Hospital, Merseyside.

The man being questioned by police was arrested on suspicion of stealing a car and burglary.

The car the girl and man were travelling in was a blue Mini, and they were being followed by a marked Vauxhall Vectra police car.

A Police Complaints Authority investigation is under way, Merseyside Police said.
