A gang of armed robbers smashed an axe over a security guard's head, before stealing cash from a transit van.
The robbery happened as the guard was making a cash delivery at Barclays bank on Liverpool Road, Cadishead, Greater Manchester at 1130 BST on Wednesday.
The guard was walking towards the bank when he was stopped and threatened by three men.
The men, who also had a machete, assaulted the guard, stole the cash and sped off in a stolen black Audi A4.
This car had been taken from an address in Whalley Range, Manchester, in the early hours of 15 August.
The gang, who all wore black tops and blue jeans, abandoned the Audi behind Wesley Methodist Church, Lords Street, Cadishead.
They then got into a waiting car, driven by a fourth man, and escape.
This car was smaller, dark blue or black, and possibly a Fiat Punto or Vauxhall Corsa.
