Six teenagers have been arrested following an armed siege in Bath.

Armed police were called to St Peter's Terrace, Lower Bristol Road, at 1825 BST on Wednesday after a member of the public reported hearing shots fired.

Three further shots were fired, and three of the youths were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life at 2110 BST.

The other three teenagers barricaded themselves inside a flat before they too were arrested shortly afterwards.

The youths, two aged 18, two aged 17, one 16-year-old and a boy aged 15, are being questioned at Bath Police Station.

Officers recovered two air handguns from the flat.

A section of Lower Bristol Road, the main road linking Bath and Bristol, was closed for a number of hours while police negotiated with the group.
