Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a 21-year-old man who was beaten up during a night out in Grimsby.

Jeffrey Bennett was attacked by a group of men in Victor Street as he walked home with his brother at about 0300 BST on Saturday.

He died at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital on Sunday after being admitted with severe head injuries.

Police said two 14-year-old boys and a man, 18, were arrested on Sunday night.

A 41-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, a spokeswoman said.

"They were all arrested last night [Sunday] and they are all currently in custody.

"Officers have been conducting searches of houses and will continue today," she added.

A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on Monday.
