Arson suspected after house fire

A house fire in Shrewsbury is being treated as a suspected arson attack.

The emergency services were called to the property at Lambourn Drive in Bowbrook at about 0330 BST on Sunday.

Police said there was evidence of a break-in at the house and the early indications were that the fire was started deliberately.

Efforts are being made to trace the occupants of the property, which was empty when firefighters arrived at the scene.

The fire in the kitchen was put out by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

House-to-house inquiries are being carried out and the police are appealing for information.
