Traffic may be banned from centre
Hereford city centre could be turned into a pedestrianised shopping area if plans are approved by the council.

At the moment the main city centre route is closed to traffic because of gas works.

But under plans, being put forward by the new city manager, High Street and Widemarsh Street could be closed on a more permanent basis.

Cynthia Spaull is also keen to see more Sunday shopping and better fairground rides to attract more visitors.

Ms Spaull also feels city planners are not making best use of the city centre and would like to see more alfresco -style cafes and restaurants.

It is one of a number of ideas being considered.
