Demand for DIY products means a bigger bonus for staff
DIY giant B&Q has announced that more than 34,000 members of staff are to receive a share of a record £34m bonus.

Customer advisers, store managers and plumbers are among those set to benefit from the pay-out, which has been set higher than last year.

The company's owner Kingfisher recently announced that B&Q's annual profits had risen to £372m - an increase of 13% .

The bonus for employees across the company's 320 stores is equivalent to 10% of their salary.

Expansion plans

This means the average sales assistant will be given £845 while plumbers will gain around £1,342.

Staff are guaranteed to receive a bonus of 6%; the remainder is based on the individual worker's salary and how well their store has fared.

Last year, B&Q staff shared in a £28m bonus - about 9% of their salaries.

Kingfisher has said it plans to open another 20 B&Q stores this year.
