Women yearning in despair for the perfect figure are hitting back.
New research says that two thirds of women feel bad about the way they look as a result of the sorts of perfect female forms depicted in beauty advertising.
Three quarters of the women surveyed said they want to see images of more realistic looking models. And now Dove, has enlisted real women - chosen off the street - for their latest ad campaign.
We talked to Dr Linda Papadopolous who put together the new research and Linda di Maria, one of the "real models" from the campaign
Both feel advertisers lower women's self esteem because they have a monolithic view of beauty. The new adverts which feature real women, they say, are aspirational, it is all about loving yourself the way you are. It means you can be curvaceous and beautiful. They say you feel you are accepted if you are big and curvy.
