Four police officers have been treated in hospital after being attacked by a man in Pickering, North Yorkshire.
An officer had called for back up in the early hours of Sunday after a man was assaulted in the town centre and suffered facial injuries.
When the officers arrived, they tried to approach the victim's assailant but he attacked them, inflicting head and facial injuries, bites and cuts.
A 23-year-old man was arrested and has been charged with assault.
He is due to appear before Scarborough Magistrates' court on Monday.
