Garden chair for cancer patient
Marion Cole
Marion Cole is trying to raise £2,000
A hospital has apologised after a patient recovering from major surgery was left sitting on a £2.99 plastic garden chair.

Marion Cole was so angry at her treatment after surgery for breast cancer that she is raising funds to buy proper treatment chairs.

She hopes to collect £2,000 to buy nine new chairs for Winchester's Royal Hampshire County Hospital.

The hospital says the chairs were supposed to be for visitors only.

Ms Cole had a mastectomy last month at the hospital.

She says she intends to present the chairs to the hospital once she has raised the money through a sponsored head shave.

A hospital spokesperson said: "The trust regrets that this patient was offered a plastic chair during her stay at the hospital.

"These are intended for visitors only and we are reminding staff to ensure post-operative patients are provided with the appropriate furniture.

"We welcome anybody who would like to raise money for hospital equipment."
