Woman charged over fatal fire

Fire-fighters were called to the blaze at 0500BST

A woman has been charged with two offences of arson after a fatal fire in Burry Port last week, say Dyfed-Powys Police.

Stuart McKibbin, 40, died in the blaze at his home in Elkington Road on 9 August.

Amanda Jayne Hewitt, from Burry Port, appeared at Llanelli Magistrates Court on Friday.

The 31-year-old was remanded in custody to appear at Swansea Crown Court on 1 September.

Dyfed-Powys Police said on Wednesday that they had arrested someone in connection with the blaze.

A woman was also injured in the blaze.

Firefighters with breathing apparatus were called to the property, where both the ground and first floors were badly damaged.

Crews from Llanelli, Carmarthen and Kidwelly attended the scene.
