Father charged with bride murder

Chanel Taylor was married seven weeks before she died

The father of a recently-married woman from Nottinghamshire has been charged with her murder.

Terry Rodgers, 55, appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with the death of his 23-year-old daughter Chanel Taylor.

Police arrested Mr Rodgers on Monday following a woodland search by hundreds of police officers near Mansfield.

He was remanded into custody and will appear again at Nottingham Crown Court on 25 August.

Mrs Taylor was shot at the home she shared with her new husband in Huthwaite on 30 July.

Armed officers arrested Mr Rodgers in Annesley Woods, near Kirkby-in-Ashfield, at around 1730 BST on Monday.

He had been living with the couple in their terrace house in New Street at the time of the incident.
