Club relief as challenge dropped
Worcester celebrate their initial promotion to the top flight
The Warriors are concentrating on the season ahead
Worcester Warriors' chairman has spoken of his relief at news that Rotherham have dropped their challenge to the rugby club's promotion.

Rotherham Titans went into liquidation putting an end to their dispute with the Warriors which at one point looked like it might end in the High Court.

Cecil Duckworth said the whole episode had been "tiresome and irritating".

He said the Sixways staff are now concentrating on the most important season in the club's history.

'Rotherham attack'

The Titans had claimed Worcester's promotion to the Zurich Premiership was invalid after they missed a deadline for satisfying premiership criteria.

The club launched legal proceedings in the High Court to block the Warriors' promotion but this was dropped after the Titans went into liquidation.

Mr Duckworth told BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester: "We're relieved, I think that's the word. This has been going on for some considerable time.

"We hear nothing and then all of a sudden we are attacked by Rotherham. At least we know now that's not going to trouble us anymore."
