Fresh appeal over stabbing victim
Bernard Hegarty
Mr Hegarty died after being stabbed in the heart
Relatives of a man who died after being stabbed in the heart, are appealing for information about his murder.

Architect Bernard Hegarty, 29 was out on his lunch break when he was the victim of an "horrendous unprovoked attack" in Bethnal Green on Wednesday.

He died in hospital on Monday. Police are still searching for his killer, who also stole some money.

His brothers Michael and Matthew Hegarty are calling on the public to help catch the attacker.

Mr Hegarty was found by two passers by, in a pool of blood.

He was able to tell them: "That man stole my money", before he lost consciousness and was taken to Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. He died five days later.

Mr Hegarty, from Tottenham, north London, worked for Stephen Davy Peter Smith Architects.

A man with curly hair and distinctive shave marks down the sides was seen running along Mansford Street into Hackney Road after the attack on Mr Hegarty.

He is described as "dark skinned" with his hair held back, possibly with a hair band.

Police will return to the scene on Wednesday to carry out door to door inquiries and distribute appeal posters to try and trace witnesses.
