Detectives are investigating a shooting in Sheffield in which a 20-year-old man suffered a shotgun wound to his arm.
Hospital staff alerted police to the incident when the man attended casualty for treatment at 0520 GMT on Saturday.
He was shot in the Pitsmoor area of the city but police say the circumstances surrounding the incident are not known.
The victim, who is from the Firth Park area, had to have emergency surgery but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
