Another arrest over pub shooting

A further man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 72-year-old Wearside man in a pub shooting last month.

Fred Fowler died at the Tap and Barrel pub in Hendon on 18 July. Michael Nixon, 19, was also injured.

A 36-year-old man from the Hartlepool area was arrested on Tuesday and is helping police with their inquiries.

Three men have been charged with murder and were remanded in custody after appearing before magistrates.

Two men, aged 46 and 19, from the Hartlepool area, have been charged with murder and attempted murder.

A 36-year-old Sunderland man has been charged with murder and possessing a handgun with intent to endanger life in a separate incident in March this year.
