Sri Lankans executed in Kuwait
Two Sri Lankan men have been hanged in Kuwait for murdering a Canadian citizen of Sri Lankan origin during a dispute over an illegal shipment of alcohol.

The two men were convicted two years ago of driving their victim, Markandu Kaja, into the desert and shooting him for not paying the price they demanded. The public was allowed to view the bodies in accordance with Kuwaiti law.

Capital punishment was introduced in Kuwait 40 years ago, since when about 50 people have been put to death.
