Terrorist offences

Eight people charged with conspiracy to murder and other terrorist offences will make their first court appearance Wednesday.

CHARGES

We looked at the problems for the newspapers in wanting to report as much detail as possible while steering on the right side of Britain's contempt laws.

Jon was joined now by the criminal barrister Jonathan Goldberg.

Cornwall floods

We had the latest from Cornwall and the amazing pictures of the devastating floods that destroyed Boscastle.

A' level results

The A' level results row had already begun over whether standards have slipped. Schools minister David Miliband said the annual debate resembles a pantomime rather than a discussion. We spoke to him on the programme.

Google

The unusual Dutch Auction of shares in Google was coming to an end and trading was due to begin in the US Wednesday. Google chose to auction its shares to widen the range of investors who can acquire a stake in the company. But will Google be able to maintain its character and independence when it is under pressure from shareholders.

Jon was joined by John Heilemann - a longtime Silicon Valley journalist, and author of a forthcoming book on the rise and fall of the new economy; and by Andrew Orlowski - he writes and lectures in California on IT issues.

Beenie Man

And the police and Crown Prosecution Service were considering whether to bring charges against the Jamaican reggae star Beenie Man for allegedly inciting the murder of gay men and lesbians with his lyrics. Our Arts Correspondent Madeleine Holt looked at the problem of homophobia among the Afro Caribbean community. She talked to the soul singer and campaigner Beverly Knight.
