Truck driver dies after collision
A 42-year-old man has died after a collision on a Teesside road.

Cleveland Police said the incident happened at 1905 GMT on Friday on the A1085 trunk road at Redcar, west of Redcar ambulance station.

A police spokesman said a flatback truck is believed to have been stationary with the driver outside his cab when a car collided with him.

The truck driver, Peter Pickering, from the Berwick Hills area of Middlesbrough, died later in hospital.

Witness appeal

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the stationary vehicle before the collision or any witnesses to contact them.

In another collision on Teesside, a 54-year-old Hartlepool man broke both legs and suffered internal injuries.

The incident happened on Coronation Drive, in Seaton Carew, on the approach to Newburn bridge at 2120 GMT on Friday.

A police spokesman said the car was travelling north when it hit a lamp-post.

The driver was trapped in the car for some time before being released and his now in hospital.
