A teenage boy has died after a road crash in County Down.

A total of 12 people were involved in the crash which took place near Bangor just after 1500 BST on Tuesday.

The Ulster Hospital said it had admitted nine casualties.

A man remains critically ill in hospital, while two females and five children are all in a stable condition.

The 14-year-old boy died on Tuesday evening.

The accident involved a four-wheel drive vehicle towing a speedboat, a people carrier and a Vauxhall Astra car.

The Bangor Road at the junction of Main Street at Whitespots near Conlig was closed in both directions.

The exact circumstances of the accident are under investigation.

Meanwhile, there has been a road crash involving five vehicles in County Antrim.

It happened along the Frosses Road on the Ballymoney side of the Knockahollet Road on Tuesday morning.

Nine people had to be treated for minor injuries.
