A 22-year-old British peace activist shot in Gaza last year has been remembered at a memorial service at Westminster Cathedral.
Student photographer Tom Hurndall from north London was shot in the head while
helping Palestinian children.
He was flown back to the UK and treated at the London Royal Hospital for Neurodisability but died in January.
Excerpts from his Palestine diaries were read out at the service attended by friends, family members and MPs.
Carl Arrindell, a spokesman for the student's family, said they wanted a service to celebrate what he did.
"There has been overwhelming demand from people from all walks of life who have been touched by the tragedy that eventually ended in Tom's death," he said.
"We have long felt that we should have a service that would recognise Tom and celebrate what he did."
Mr Hurndall died on 13 January after he was shot in the head and spent nine months in a coma.
An Israeli soldier has been charged with his manslaughter.
Lawyers acting for the student's family are appealing to the Israeli Supreme Court for full access to the evidence gathered in the shooting investigation.
Mr Hurndall was a member of the International Solidarity Movement, a pro-Palestinian group.
The group's website says its activists pursue "non-violent, direct-action methods of resistance to the Israeli occupation".
