Soccer mother gets the baby blues
Kay Edwards
Kay Edwards says the ruling is "disgusting"
A mother has been told she must pay £15 to buy her son a seat at Birmingham City football match.

Kay Edwards said the decision meant she could not go to Saturday's game, as nine-week-old Francis was too young to be left with a babysitter.

The mother said she and her husband Murray had already paid for two tickets and were now out of pocket.

The club said they sympathised with the couple but had to abide by Premier League safety regulations.

Mrs Edwards, who is from Coseley in the Black Country, told BBC Midlands Today: "I was really looking forward to going to see Birmingham.

Francis will have to wait to go to his first football match
"I can't believe they'd actually charge to take an infant who's not actually going to be taking up a seat - it's really disgusting.

"I was going to take him in a baby sling and have him on my lap - he wouldn't even be facing towards the game."

A statement released by the club read: "Birmingham City sympathise with the supporters' situation.

"Unfortunately, we are bound by Premier League regulations, which state that every person must be allocated a seat and have a valid ticket."
