An inquest is due to open into the death of a man killed in Saudi Arabia when gunmen opened fire on his car.

Oil executive Michael Hamilton died in May after he was shot by militants as he drove to work in the city of Khobar.

Mr Hamilton, who was in his 50s, had a house in Rye, Sussex, where he and his wife Penelope stayed when in the UK.

Mrs Hamilton and a British police officer who visited Saudi Arabia after the raid are expected to give evidence at the inquest in Hove.

Mr Hamilton, who lived in a housing compound reserved for oil workers, was a senior executive for Apicorp, the Arab Petroleum Investment Corporation.

He was one of 22 people killed during the 25-hour raid by suspected Islamic militants.
