A man accused of murdering an army recruitment sergeant almost 12 years ago has appeared in court.
Joseph Magee was arrested in Northern Ireland last Wednesday after the High Court in Dublin refused to extradite him.
Sergeant Michael Newman was shot in the head as he left the army recruitment centre in Derby in April 1992.
Joseph Magee, 38, was remanded in custody and will next appear in court in June.
He was arrested earlier in March in Northern Ireland while attending a funeral.
On Friday he was brought to Nottingham Crown Court from Wakefield Prison.
Surrounded by four prison officers, he spoke only to confirm his name during the 10-minute hearing.
The Irish National Liberation Army claimed responsibility after Sergeant Newman was fatally shot at close range.
