Missing boy 'was asleep in woods'
Missing boy in ambulance
The boy was taken to hospital by ambulance for medical checks
A seven-year-old boy who disappeared - sparking a major search - had fallen asleep in the woods, police say.

Tim Cross, from Poole, Dorset, was found safe and well on Tuesday morning after he went missing from his family's New Forest campsite late on Monday.

An off-duty search team spotted the youngster riding his bike close to the Hollands Park site at around 0800 BST.

Both police and coastguard helicopters joined police officers and volunteers for the overnight search.

Insp Gerry Hutchings said: "He was fairly bright and cheerful and fortunately he doesn't seem to have suffered too much from his ordeal.

"He was a little disorientated and there was quite a tearful reunion with his parents I understand.

"Otherwise he was fairly well and good and is being checked out at hospital.

"It's always a magnificent feeling when something like this comes to a happy conclusion."
