Man is killed after 'hit and run'
A Teesside man has been killed after being hit by a car which failed to stop.

Police said the incident happened as 51-year-old Ray Thompson was crossing Acklam Road in Middlesbrough at 2145 BST on Monday.

A police spokesman said Mr Thompson was hit by a red Rover 25 which was later found abandoned in Ingleby Barwick.

Three men from the Stockton area have been interviewed and police are appealing for witnesses.
