New powers to beat troublemakers
New powers to tackle the increasing problem of anti-social behaviour in Luton came into force on Monday in a pilot scheme which could be expanded.

Officers using dispersal orders in parts of the town can now break up groups of troublemakers and enforce a night time curfew.

Under-age drinking, drug-taking and swearing have blighted the lives of people living near Whipperley Ring.

Groups causing trouble could be arrested if they refuse to move on.
