Freephone plan for voter registry
People living across much of Gloucestershire will soon be able to use a freephone service to confirm electoral roll details.

Gloucester, Stroud, Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean are to offer residents the new way to register to vote.

The service can be used by households where the names on the electoral register remain unchanged from 2003.

A registration form will be posted to each home listing the registration details with freephone details.

The freephone service is expected to save the councils money and will make life easier for residents who are housebound.

People living in rural areas and people in busy households who want to save time could also benefit, said a spokesman.
