Fears are growing for the safety of a motorist who crashed his car at a remote moorland spot near Sheffield.
Paul Heywood, 48, of Gill Croft, Stannington, west Sheffield was last seen by friends on Saturday night.
His empty car was found embedded in a dry stone wall on Mortimer Road at the junction with Moor Lane at Bolsterstone at 0200 GMT on Sunday.
Officers fear the missing driver could be badly injured and the remote site and bad weather are raising concerns.
Exposed moorland
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "At the time of the accident, a witness saw the car driver was still in the vehicle and was alone.
"By the time police arrived a short time later he had disappeared.
"The scene of the accident is at a remote and most exposed part of The Strines moorland."
She described Mr Heywood as of large build, "to the extent that his weight prevents him walking any great distance".
Any witnesses who may have passed the accident scene, particularly the driver of a green VW Polo-style hatchback, are urged to contact police.
