Thieves escape with big gems haul

Detectives are investigating the theft of thousands of pounds worth of gems from a house in North Lincolnshire.

Thieves broke in through a ground floor window of a house on Dale Park Avenue in Winterton between 2200 and 2300 GMT on Thursday.

They made their way to a bedroom at the property and took more than £7,000 worth of gems along with some costume jewellery.

Humberside Police say the raiders made a "tidy search" of the property.
