Man in court over school murder
A 49-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a parent who was attacked as he waited to pick up his stepdaughter from school.

Mustafa Saeed, 41, was stabbed twice in the back near Holte School, in Newtown, Birmingham, on 16 March.

The attack was witnessed by pupils at neighbouring Lozells Primary School who were returning from a swimming lesson.

Somali national Ali Saeed, who is no relation, was remanded in custody by magistrates in Birmingham on Friday.

Mustafa Saeed, who lived in Hockley but was also originally from Somalia, was stabbed on Wheelers Street.

He was taken to hospital where he later died.

Ali Saeed, of Bark Avenue, Hockley, is due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on 2 April.

An application for bail by his solicitor was rejected.
