The police officer who led the search for a teenage boy found drowned has issued a warning about summer swimming.
Ch Insp Nick Phillips coordinated the search in the River Bollin, Greater Manchester, for Adam Charlotte, 15, who was found on Sunday.
"If anything positive is to come out of this tragic incident then I hope people heed the advice to stay out of canals, reservoirs and rivers," he said.
Ch Insp Phillips said apparently "safe water" may be very dangerous.
He said it can be tempting to cool off in warm temperatures, but added: "They may look safe but they are often deeper than you think with strong currents."
Adam, from Partington, was found a mile from he was swept away by the fast-flowing river near Dunham Massey on Thursday.
Ch Insp Phillips paid tribute to the police officers, fire crews and especially Bolton Mountain Rescue team who took part in the three-day search.
He said the mountain rescue volunteers' "dedication to the cause was unlike anything I have seen in my 20 years of policing".
Adam's friends, who were with him when he fell in, were later treated for shock after trying him to pull him clear of the water.
