Miracle baby prepares to go home
Meleesa Hall and partner Peter Britain cradle their new baby Lauren
Meleesa Hall and Peter Britain have praised staff caring for Lauren
A baby, born weighing just 1lb 7oz after failing to grow in her mother's womb, is now well enough to go home.

Doctors had said the chances of Lauren Britain surviving after she was delivered at 23 weeks, were less than one in six.

Her mother, Meleesa Hall, 25, had an emergency caesarean section seven weeks ago after complaining she could not feel her unborn baby kicking.

Meleesa and partner, Peter Britain, praised Royal Oldham Hospital's staff.

The alarm was raised after Meleesa, who has a two-year-old son went to her GP complaining about a cough.

'Little miracle'

Meleesa, from Failsworth, Greater Manchester, was rushed to hospital where she underwent the emergency caesarean after mentioning that she had not felt her baby kicking for some days.

Peter's uncle, also called Peter and from Failsworth, said: "Lauren's a little miracle.

"We were all very worried because she was born so early.

"The family is just waiting now for her to come home and we'll probably organise a celebration of some kind."
