Police target 'crime on the move'
South Wales Police
Three forces analyse intelligence together
More than 50 people have been arrested in a crackdown on so-called "travelling criminals" in south west Wales.

Dawn raids involved 90 police officers from the South Wales and Dyfed-Powys forces in Operation Eagle.

British Transport Police were also involved in the first joint operation between the forces for five years.

Police say they are targeting criminals working outside the areas where they live.

Thursday morning's operation targeted Swansea and Llanelli, with a total of 53 arrests.

Chief Inspector Julian Williams said: "By the forces pooling our intelligence and the officers we have at our disposal, we are likely to discover those offenders that may otherwise slip through the net."

Hi-tech equipment such as automatic number plate recognition machines were used to help track vehicles used by car criminals travelling between Swansea and Llanelli.

It allows officers to identify suspects anywhere within the UK and police say this helps them target criminals better.
