Warning over bogus bin men scam
People living in a Lincolnshire town are being warned about bogus refuse collectors working in the area.

Victims pay for their rubbish to be taken away only for it to be dumped, often near their homes.

One householder in Gainsborough told West Lindsey District council they had paid three people £30 to take the rubbish away in supermarket trolleys.

Residents whose rubbish is dumped have been warned they could also be fined up to £200 by the council.

Some victims say the conmen claim a van will collect the waste - but then they find it left on the street nearby.

The council says taxpayers are having to foot the bill for the authority to clear fly-tipped rubbish.
