Plan to list 'innovative' house
The Heritage Minister has announced plans to list a 1950s building "with an innovative design" in Coventry.

The house, 114 Kenilworth Road, was built by the Warwickshire architect Robert Harvey for his brother.

Andrew McIntosh, the Heritage Minister, has said the design was more experimental because it was built for the man's family.

Coventry City Council is currently considering plans to demolish the house.

'Exceptional' detail

It is also looking at proposals to knock down 112 Kenilworth Road next door.

Mr Harvey is considered in the industry to be one of the most significant of a small group of architects who started work in the 1950s.

Mr McIntosh has described the attention to detail at number 114 as "exceptional".

Local people now have the chance to tell the minister whether they believe the building merits the extra protection that the listing status would provide.
