A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with a death at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta.
Colin Philip Treharne, 21, of Lawrence Weston, died in hospital on Sunday, after being attacked on Saturday evening near the Fiesta's fairground.
A post-mortem examination revealed he died of head injuries.
The 19-year-old from Bristol, was arrested on Sunday night and was due to be interviewed on Monday at a police station in Weston-super-Mare.
Police said Mr Treharne was cycling in the fairground area at around 1930 BST, when it is believed he was attacked from behind and hit with a lump of wood.
Forensic tests
Det Supt Trevor Simpson said: "It appears to have been an unprovoked attack."
A number of items have been recovered from the scene and taken away for forensic tests.
A team of 40 police officers talked to festival-goers at the site of the attack in search for witnesses.
Detectives said the area was busy at the time of the assault and urged visitors to come forward with information.
