An outdoor theatre performance of Titanic was cancelled when one of the performers set fire to his clothes.
Actor Holger Teupel, 44, from Germany was taken to Wakefield's Pinderfields Hospital with burns after the accident in Leeds' Millennium Square.
A spokesman for Leeds City Council said the burns were of a low level and he was expected to make a full recovery.
Saturday's show was abandoned as the cast came to Mr Teupel's aid but 700 people turned up to Sunday's show.
The spokesman said: "The performer was stoking a barrel which is then meant to burst into flames.
"Unfortunately, he suffered burns to his arm.
"It is anticipated the actor will make a full recovery within the next few weeks.
"The show, which involves special water and fire effects, has been performed in locations around the world without injury for the last ten years."
