Man held after welding firm siege
The scene of the siege
Police arrested a man at the scene at about 1000 BST
A man has been arrested after a siege at a welding firm's premises.

Roads were cordoned off after a man locked himself into Fabweld in Banbury Road in Poole, Dorset, at about 0100 BST on Monday.

Police negotiators were called to the scene and by 1000 BST officers arrested a man in his 40s.

The public had been kept away from the scene as a precaution as the building contained potentially explosive gas and oxygen cylinders.

A police spokesman said that the safety of the public around the Nuffield industrial estate had been "paramount" in the operation.

The arrested man was taken to Poole police station.
