Locals upset with flood response
People living in Gainsborough, where homes were damaged by flooding last week, say they need more support from their district council.

More than 100 homes and businesses were hit after heavy rainfall in Lincolnshire on Thursday.

Sandbags have been delivered to homes and West Lindsey council leaders say they are tackling the situation.

But resident Karen Brooks said: "It has been horrible - I am shaking with fear and from tiredness."

She said her telephone service was cut off and was still not restored.

"I have only been able to save my three-piece suite, but I have lost most of my things," she said.

Julie Ann Johnson, who lives at Fillingham Close says West Lindsey District Council promised dehumidifiers, but these are yet to arrive.

District council spokesman Roger Vine said: "Most of the properties are managed by a housing association and they are supplying the dehumidifiers, which should be available later today.

"We need to resolve the issues regarding the drains and contact the relevant agencies."

He said a second delivery of sandbags is expected on Monday, but added that 20 tonnes of sand has already been distributed.
