Dead motorbike rider is named

A man killed in a motorbike accident in Gateshead has been named by police.

Peter Bell, of Epinay Walk in Jarrow, died around 1800 BST on Sunday near Southshore Road, at the rear of Gateshead International Stadium.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said the 37-year-old apparently lost control of his black, Suzuki 125cc motorbike and suffered fatal injuries.

Police are still appealing for any witnesses to the incident, which did not involve any other vehicles.
