Hundreds of police officers have resumed their search for murder suspect Terry Rodgers.

He is wanted over the death of his daughter, newly-wed Chanel Taylor, 23, in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire.

The search entered its fourth day on Monday with about 600 officers at woods in Annesley, five miles from Huthwaite.

Officers have already discovered one suspect in a separate murder case who was hiding in the wood. The two cases are not being linked by police.

A spokeswoman said the search for Mr Rodgers would continue until dusk and followed intelligence given to police from members of the public.

Some 620 specialist and armed officers, sniffer dogs and helicopters were being used in the manhunt.

It is taking place in woodland near the A611 between the towns of Hucknall and Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

Supt Stuart Wright said: "There have been some more sightings although these are being researched at the moment.

Hiding place found

"The inquiry has been going on for several weeks and we have identified a number of areas where we think Terry Rodgers could be.

"We have then prioritised these and undertaken a search.

"He is a local man and we are searching local areas so it is a definite possibility that he could be getting assistance."

Chanel Taylor was found dead on 30 July at the home she shared with her husband Lee and Mr Rodgers, originally from South Normanton, Derbyshire.

Mr and Mrs Taylor had married just seven weeks earlier and her father gave her away.

The search, the biggest ever in Nottinghamshire, began in Annesley on Friday with detectives looking for both Mr Rodgers and Robert Boyer.

Police believed a search of the wood was the best option in two separate murder inquiries - the death of Mrs Taylor and the killing of Keith Frogson.

Mr Frogson, 62, a former miner, was found dead outside his home in nearby Annesley Woodhouse on 19 July after spending a night in his local pub.

Mr Boyer, wanted in connection with Mr Frogson's death, was discovered in Annesley woods early on Sunday morning.

It is thought Mr Boyer had been hiding in the wood for four weeks living off bottled water and tinned food.

He will be questioned by police.
