Appeal over man found in lay-by
William Harvey Hospital
The man died at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford
An investigation into the death of a man in hospital who was found with serious injuries in a lay-by in Kent has led to further police appeals.

The man, who has not been identified, was found on the A28 between Bethersden and Ashford on Thursday morning.

Police believe the man in his late 20s or early 30s, who was 5 ft 9 ins, slim and blue-eyed, was from Eastern Europe.

Officers want to speak to a man of similar appearance who was seen in the lay-by carrying bags at the time.

Witness appeal

The injured man was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford after being discovered at about 0650 GMT, but police confirmed he died later that day.

The driver of a white lorry has been questioned by officers - it is thought the lorry, seen in the area soon after the man was found, was also from Eastern Europe.

Police closed part of the A28 between the Singleton roundabout and Little Moat Farm while officers attended the incident.

One lane on the stretch of road was reopened on Thursday afternoon.

Police appealed for witnesses, particularly anyone who was in the area between 0630 GMT and 0700 GMT.

A post-mortem examination was being carried out, police said.
