Man jailed for abducting teenager
A man who pleaded guilty to abducting a girl of 14 and having underage sex, has been jailed for 18 months.

David Kevin Smith, 37, from Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, and the girl slept rough in London for a week.

At Nottingham Crown Court he was said to have taken advantage of the her vulnerability.

Judge Joan Butler, who accepted it was the girl's idea to go off together, was told they were eventually spotted near a church in south east London.

The court was told the pair were on a park bench when the police arrived.

Officers were alerted by a member of the public following news broadcasts.

Smith, who also goes by the name of David Tyler, said he had been "out of his head" on furniture polish.

The court heard he had convictions for dishonesty and violence, but nothing of a sexual nature.
