Man, 47, shot putting out rubbish
A 47-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being shot in the leg in Birmingham.

The incident happened as he was putting rubbish in a dustbin in the back garden of a house on Summerfield Crescent, Edgbaston, at 2300 GMT on Tuesday.

He was approached by another man who pulled out a shotgun and discharged it into the victim's knee.

The offender made off through gardens in the area and onto Gillott Road following the incident.

The man is in a serious but stable condition and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
